From the Head Teacher

Jebel Ali Primary School has grown tremendously since its foundation in 1977. In 2007 we will celebrate our 30th anniversary. The school is a member of the British Schools of the Middle East and the UAE British Businessmens Group. Today we have over 590 pupils in 26 classes within 2 separate key stage sites. In spite of the large number of children we are able to maintain our "small village school ethos". The key aims of our School are to:

  • Create a warm, stimulating, enriched environment through which all children, regardless of gender, social or ethnic grouping, are able to achieve their full potential and enjoy their learning.
  • Care for and value the children.
  • Provide security and stability for all children through a disciplined environment based on consistency and fairness.
  • Encourage in the children a sense of responsibility towards themselves and their surroundings, encouraging courtesy and consideration for others.
  • Provide a broad, balanced, relevant, challenging and practical curriculum for all children.

For Reception children entering Jebel Ali we have an induction day during the month of June every year. Our admission arrangements also require other children seeking places at the School to be assessed in the school environment by a member of our teaching staff. Children are expected to be able to speak English prior to entrance to the School as English is not taught as a second language. We have a Learning Support Programme for those children who may need additional help with certain areas of study. The School is not in a position to offer support for children with extensive learning needs and/or severe emotional and behavioural difficulties.

By accepting the offer of a place at the School, parents agree to their child receiving an education firmly based around the National Curriculum for England and the associated assessment procedures. Certain modifications have to be made due to regulations here in the United Arab Emirates and the local environment influences some of our geographical, historical and environmental studies.

Change is ever present in Dubai and it is no exception at Jebel Ali Primary School where the development of facilities is ongoing. We have recently purchased interactive whiteboards for all 26 classrooms. Should you wish to visit our School, please contact the registrar to arrange an appointment.
